Monitoring the line load, rolled gap and the roller velocity. Influence of calendering parameters on the thickness, porosity and density of the finished electrode. Other external factors influencing the overal electrochemical performance (such as temperature, moisture).

Understand the electrode slitting and its key parameters

Edge burrs, edge waviness, main dimensional tolerances. Role of slitting variables such as slitting speed, cutting accuracy, coiling tension.

On the line inspection and process monitoring

Operation of vision systems, analysis of the measured coating parameters (width, thickness, edge quality, defects), feeding back to ensure continuous improvement.

Battery manufacturing technicians prepare for and conduct processes in one stage of cell or battery manufacture. Electrode technicians produce the component that goes in battery cells. They perform processes such as mixing, coating, drying, calendering, and electrode slitting.

Intensive one-day course providing an in-depth overview focussing specifically on the process of electrode manufacture. Attendees will cover the processes of Electrode manufacture and be able to see these processes used on gigafactory scale equipment in our Industrial scale-up line.

This 3-day short course will provide an in-depth understanding of the underlying concepts of electrochemical materials for state-of-the-art Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery cells, including active materials properties, synthesis, electrode/cell manufacturing and characterization.

By attending the course, you will develop the core skills and knowledge that underpin the transition from individual electrochemical components, through to a complete industrial cell and its performance.
