Vision

Enabling understanding of the skills required to advance electrification in the UK.

Mission

To support and align industry, skills providers and accrediting organisations, showcasing initiatives and facilitating the development of a dynamic electrification skills framework.

Values

Throught the Electrification Skills Network we uphold and promote:

Collaboration
creating connections and partnerships between stakeholders leading to new opportunities for the development and delivery of electrification skills
Alignment
via a nationally available Framework for Electrification
Acceleration
reducing the time between skills identification and delivery through sharing best practice, upskilling opportunities

How to use the framework

The Framework's core is the Common Sets of Skills (CSS), which are positioned across four levels for each technology area: Introduction, Technical, Senior Technical, and Expert.

You can view the entire framework, but you may find it easier to search the framework. This will allow you to complete a CCS Search using a keyword or filter by area, level, or focus.

As you examine each CSS, you will notice a summary on each of the square tiles, which will inform you:

  • The area covered by the CSS, e.g. Battery, Power Electronics etc.
  • The title of the CSS, e.g. "Introduction to Power Electronics" and, where appropriate, a short description.
  • The level of the CSS, e.g. Technical
  • The focus of the CSS, e.g. Theory
Explanation of the contents of the CSS card layout, as described in the text above

The bottom right-hand corner of the tile also shows a battery charge status symbol, which indicates the current coverage status.

Unpopulated CSS icon An unpopulated CSS has no courses or qualifications associated with it.
Developing CSS icon An developing CSS has no courses or qualifications, but there are organisations working on them.
Populated CSS icon A populated CSS has courses and/or qualifications associated with it.

If you click on the tile from the search results on the framework screen, it will take you to an overview of the CSS. From there, or when accessing it through the entire framework, you can then open the complete CSS. Each CSS contains:

Objectives
And minimum expected coverage
Qualifications
Any qualifications identified as fully or partially covering the CSS will be listed accordingly.
Courses
Those identified as fully or partially covering the CSS will be listed accordingly.
Related Common Sets of Skills (CSS)
There are often CSS that closely relate to other CSS. In such instances, they will be listed accordingly.

If you cannot find what you want while navigating the framework, please do not hesitate to contact us. If you need support navigating, please contact us. We will be pleased to arrange a call to guide you through it.

How can the ESN team support you in finding a solution?

Sometimes, the best way to find the right solution is simply by talking it through. Our team has a strong track record of helping people connect with the right resources or expertise.

This can be something like connecting you to the right skills provider to deliver a specific training need that’s perhaps not on the ESN framework, sourcing training resources or connecting you to the right subject matter experts.

You’ll find a few suggested categories on our Contact Us page, but if none of them fit, don’t worry, just send us a message, and we’ll be happy to arrange a call.
