Objective Minimum Expected Coverage

Know and understand the environmental factors relating to battery manufacture.

Effects of climate change, human factors which increase greenhouse gasses, gasses which contribute to the greenhouse effect, key features of climate policies, legislation (e.g. Climate Change Act, Paris Agreement) and net zero targets.

Know and understand how sustainable lithium-ion battery manufacture can impact global climate change.

Definition of the term ‘sustainability’, battery development methods to mitigate against contributing to climate change (e.g. low carbon supply chain, recycling, increasing energy density, extending longevity and second life uses), uses of lithium-ion batteries to minimise impact on global climate change.

Know and understand how utilising battery technology in vehicle manufacture can reduce air pollution.

Definition of the term ‘air pollution’, sources and effects, principal pollutants from Internal Combustion Engine vehicles (ICE), impact of current and future carbon dioxide emission reduction targets on vehicle manufacture.
